Anyone Can Rent You AV Equipment. Almost No One Solves the Actual Problem.

There's a difference between a company that shows up with truss, screens, and a truck full of gear, and a company that shows up already knowing why the event matters and what happens if it doesn't land. Both of them can build you a stage. Only one of them is actually solving anything.

Most of the industry is built around the first kind. Ask ten production companies what they do and nine will describe their inventory. Ask what happens when the CEO is nervous about the message, or the room needs to feel a specific way to a specific group of people, or the event has one shot to change how a client sees you, and the answer thins out fast.

That's not because the equipment matters less. It's because equipment was never the hard part.

We've said for a long time that the events people remember are rarely the ones with the biggest gear package. They're the ones where somebody took emotional ownership of the outcome instead of assuming it would just happen. We call that the Invisible Host problem. Most good events never become great because they die in the gap between logistics and experience, and nobody was actually responsible for closing that gap.

Equipment was never the hard part.

So the real question worth asking before you hire anyone isn't what they rent. It's whether they'll get close enough to your actual purpose to solve for it, or whether they'll stay at arm's length and hand you a spec sheet. That distance is the whole game. The closer a partner gets to why the event matters, the more they can actually protect you from the ways it goes wrong.

That's the thinking behind the Event Value Report, live now at eventvaluereport.lovable.app.

It's ten questions, none of them about headcount, venue, or catering, built to surface what you're actually trying to accomplish and where you're most exposed if it doesn't land.

They cover the same ground as ShowSync's Discovery 1 and Discovery 2 calls, the two conversations that normally happen before anyone talks about a stage or a screen. You can answer them on your own time, and the report builds out in front of you as you go: the outcome you're after, what's genuinely at stake, how it should feel forty eight hours later, the history behind the decision, where you hold the strongest opinion, the business context driving it, what happens beyond the room itself, what the investment actually needs to be, and the timeline to pull it off.

The closer a partner gets to why the event matters, the more they can protect you from the ways it goes wrong.

No email wall. Your results show up right on the page, and we only ask for an email at the end if you want to keep a copy. A gated PDF behind a form is still a lead capture wearing a diagnostic's clothes. This one isn't. It's your story, not ours.

To be direct about who this is for. This isn't built for a team planning a happy hour or booking a few speakers and a sound system. It's calibrated for organizations planning events with real budget behind them, generally in the $500k and up range for total event investment, where hiring a vendor instead of a partner is an expensive mistake to find out about after the fact.

Here's the test we'd suggest running on anyone you're considering, including us. Ask them what they think the event needs to accomplish before you tell them. Ask what they think could go wrong before they've seen your run of show. If the answer is a rental catalog, you've found equipment. If the answer sounds like they've already been thinking about your event as if it were theirs, you've found a partner. The Event Value Report is our attempt to get you thinking that way before that conversation ever happens, whether it happens with us or with somebody else.
